Welcome to the Webit blog: The web touch-editing app for iPhone.

How was Webit born?
Webit comes from a degree’s final project proposal at the La Salle campus of Engineering and Architecture (URL), Barcelona.
The initial idea was to create an application in the m-learning (mobile learning) field, which is characterised for being a sort of an asynchronous learning and that doesn’t require a fix place to be taught or consult its contents, thanks to the features in mobile devices.
The objective was to create a project which would be useful for giving a course on “Design and Usability”, given at this very same University.
What is Webit?
Webit is an iPhone app which allows the user to load a webpage through a browser and edit via touch both the content and the presentation of the various elements on the page, no need for programming.
Apart from being able to edit elements, it allows you to erase and create new ones, thus being a complete web editor, recognising more than 80 HTML tags and being able to create more than 40 different elements.
On the other hand, Webit contains extra functions which allow you to compare the modified web with the original, save the source code so that you are able to upload the edited web to the internet, and show the basic features of a design document: the text sources which have been used, the images shown on the web and the relation between the various colours in the document.
Who is it targeted to?
Initially, Webit was targeted to graphic design students so that they could get to do some tests on usability and accessibility: to modify the location of the elements, to change the colours spectrum, to use more representative names in the menus… but regarding the app’s potential and the fact that a complete editor has successfully been created; such editor allows you to create web documents by using other ones previously created, no need to program, any user could use it, for any kind of action such as the previously mentioned tests, edit webs or to use any other of its functions.
In addition, its graphic interface which is intuitive and easy to use, so that it will not take you long to adapt to its use.

¿Cómo nace Webit?
Webit surge como una propuesta de trabajo final de grado por parte de la universidad Enginyeria i Arquitectura La Salle (URL) de Barcelona.
La idea inicial fue crear una aplicación en el campo del m-learning (mobile learning), que se caracteriza por ser un tipo de aprendizaje asíncrono y que no requiere de un lugar fijo para ser impartido o consultar sus contenidos, gracias a las características de los dispositivos móviles.
El objetivo fue que el proyecto pudiera ayudar a la impartición de clases de la asignatura de “Diseño y Usabilidad”, impartida en la propia universidad.
¿Qué es Webit?
Webit es una aplicación para iPhone, que permite al usuario cargar una página web mediante un navegador y editar de forma táctil tanto el contenido como la presentación de los distintos elementos de la página, sin necesidad de programar.
Además de poder editar elementos, permite borrar y crear nuevos, siendo así un editor web completo, reconociendo más de 80 tags HTML y pudiendo crear más de 40 elementos distintos.
Por otro lado, Webit contiene funciones extras que permiten comparar la web modificada con la original, guardar el código fuente para poder subir la web editada a internet, y mostrar las características básicas de un documento de diseño: los tipos de fuente utilizados, las imágenes mostradas en la web, y la relación que hay entre los distintos colores del documento.
¿A quién va dirigido?
En un principio Webit estaba orientado a estudiantes de diseño gráfico para que pudieran realizar pruebas de usabilidad y accesibilidad: modificar la disposición de los elementos, cambiar las gamas de colores, utilizar nombres más representativos en los menús… pero visto el potencial de la aplicación y que se ha logrado desarrollar un editor completo que permite crear documentos web a partir de otros y sin necesidad de programar, cualquier usuario puede utilizarlo, ya sea para realizar las pruebas anteriores, editar webs o utilizar cualquiera de sus otras funcionalidades.
Además cuenta con una interfaz gráfica intuitiva y fácil de usar, por lo que no tardarás mucho en familiarizarte con su uso.
